Do I need a science background to teach this? ▼

Not at all. The parent portal includes full teaching guides, discussion questions with answer hints, and a weekly prep checklist. Each week takes less than 10 minutes of parent preparation.

Is lye dangerous? Is this safe for kids? ▼

Lye is a real chemical and treated with real respect — that's the point. At-home study involves no chemicals whatsoever. Your student only encounters lye during the supervised capstone lab at Jonesboro Soap, where trained staff guide every step and all PPE is provided.

What does my student take home? ▼

After the capstone lab, your student receives approximately 7 full-size handmade soap bars they made themselves, plus a signed certificate of completion from Jonesboro Soap.

Can siblings take the course together? ▼

Yes — and you can enroll multiple students in a single transaction using the "+ Add Another Student" button above. Each student needs their own login to track progress individually, but siblings can share a capstone lab session.

When can we schedule the capstone lab? ▼

The capstone lab is by appointment, Monday through Saturday. We recommend scheduling early as dates fill up fast. Individual and small group sessions are both available. We'll reach out after enrollment to get you on the calendar.

How long does the at-home portion take? ▼

Approximately 1–3 hours per week over four weeks. The course is fully self-paced — your student can move faster or slower depending on your family's schedule. There are no deadlines.

Does my child have to complete every activity? ▼

Not at all. Every child is made differently and learns differently. This course is meant to spark curiosity and joy, not create pressure. Skip what doesn't fit your family's pace. Show up to the lab ready to make something, and trust the process — your child will learn.

What if my student gets stuck or has questions? ▼

The online portal is available 24/7. For questions about the material, parents can contact us by phone or email. We want every student to succeed.
